Beaches

Bude and the surrounding area has a number of fantastic beaches. Here is our pick of the best ones for you to explore while you're here...

Sandymouth Beach

The nearest beach to Eddington Lodge is Sandymouth Beach, complete with cafe for the ice cream and coffee lovers! After a short scramble from the National Trust car park, the beach opens up to a stunning expanse of sand. If the tide is out it is possible to walk south along the beach to Bude in around 45 minutes, however the South West Coast Path which follows the beach alongside the cliffs is a safer option if the tide is not completely out. 

Northcott Mouth

Northcott Mouth is a smaller beach, great for jumping in rockpools and seeing the Bellem, shipwrecked in 1917 and still visible at certain times of the year when the sand is washed away. Don't forget to visit Margaret's Rustic Tea Room for the full experience!

Crooklets Beach

Crooklets Beach is one of the two main beaches in Bude itself. Accessible from its own car park you can walk straight onto the beach and either head down to the golden sand or let the kids loose on the pirate ship play area. With two cafes and a small play park, this is the perfect location for families. Fabulous surfing conditions also make it hugely popular for surfers and Crooklets Beach is also the host of the annual Bude Christmas swim!

Summerleaze Beach

Summerleaze Beach is the second main beach in Bude. Once again it has its own car park and a selection of beach huts available for hire. Popular with surfers and families, it sits next to the mouth of Bude canal. The South West Coastal Path traverses the beach and continues south on the cliffs towards Widemouth Bay.

Widemouth Bay

Widemouth Bay is once again accessible from its own car park and boasts fabulous views along the coast. Watch surfers all year round and enjoy the cafes providing delicious food throughout the day.
